April 15th was tax day, and it was also the day that I interviewed the very talented and impressive Joel Hamilton. Joel is most well known for his work as a producer working with plenty of artists of the likes of Highly Suspect, The Black Keys, Tom Waits, and Elvis Costello. There is a certain raw aspect that you can hear in Joel's work (Highly Suspect's Mister Asylum or Elvis Costello's "Beautiful" if I were to highlight a couple) that makes unique and ultimately puts his imprint on the work. But, as any great producer does, and as Rod Stewart has said of Tom Dowd, Joel doesn't need to impose himself on the work in order to make a record. He's the producer; he's there to make the record better, not to make the record his.

Joel's work, his past, a David Bowie story, and more are included in the interview HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbDb-PBT-II
